What We Do

We create end-to-end power solutions — from project development, to power generation, transmission, and distribution. Our portfolio has spanned across diverse fuel sources, renewable as well as conventional.

Project Highlights

ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd (OTPC)

Tapping the huge natural gas reserves of Tripura, the 727 MW mega-power plant has transformed the power-deficit state to a power-surplus state. It supplies 100 MW power to Bangladesh and provides 25% of the entire North East Region’s power. It has attracted record investments of over Rs 140 billion to the region. Read the story.

Indo–Nepal Power Transmission Project

A momentous step for India’s bilateral relations, this project is presently helping power energy-starved Nepal while incentivising its hydropower plants. These transmission lines will further help India import Nepal’s hydroelectricity in the long term. Read the story.

Bhadla Solar Park

We pioneered the setting up of solar parks in India, and were instrumental in promoting a solar tariff of Rs 2.44/kWh — the lowest achieved so far in India’s solar power journey. Towards achieving India’s 2022 renewable energy target, IL&FS Energy is partnering the Govt of Rajasthan to set up what will be the world’s largest solar park. By providing park infrastructure like substations, grid connectivity and arrangements for long term access for power evacuation besides other value added services, we offer a plug-and-play solution to potential solar project developers.

Pan-India Wind Power Projects

An operational capacity of 862 MW makes IL&FS Energy one of India’s leading wind IPPs. We have set up facilities across all the 7 wind states, under sound long-term purchase agreements, and a strong pipeline of additional capacity in the next 5 years.

IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power Company Ltd (ITPCL), Cuddalore

With its highly progressive sustainability measures, the 3840 MW thermal power plant has benchmarked environmental standards for thermal power stations in India — from using imported low-ash coal to installing a flue-gas desulphuriser, and more.

Advisory

The greatest value-creation lies in the project development stage; paired with strong domain knowledge, that is a key strength of IL&FS Energy. The scope of our advisory business includes: technical studies, approvals, infrastructure and logistics; commercial and financial aspects including power purchase, and supply and transportation agreements; EPC/construction contracts; and project management and O&M services. Since 2003 we have advised several state governments, and helped formulate national policy for the power sector.

As part of demand-side management we are currently partnering state utilities to replace traditional street lamps with LEDs across Delhi, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
